The State Office serves as the Department’s hub for programmatic and administrative functions.

Central State Hospital

Central State Hospital is DBHDD’s specialized psychiatric care hospital for Forensic inpatients. The facility provides multi-disciplinary services including psychiatric evaluation, treatment and competency restoration services for people referred by the state’s criminal justice and correctional system.

Central State Hospital (CSH)

East Central Regional Hospital

The East Central Regional Hospital provides inpatient programming on the Augusta campus including mental health, behavioral health, and forensic services. The Gracewood campus provides inpatient skilled nursing services for people living with developmental disabilities in both an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IID) and Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) setting.

East Central Regional Hospital (ECRH)

Georgia Regional Hospital – Atlanta

The Georgia Regional Hospital in Atlanta provides inpatient skilled nursing, mental health, and forensic services. Offering inpatient services such as adult mental health, rehabilitative, and forensic competency restoration programs, GRHA also provides outpatient dental services to developmentally disabled persons from 8 metro Atlanta counties.

Georgia Regional Hospital – Savannah

Georgia Regional Hospital in Savannah provides quality inpatient care to mentally ill adults and individuals living with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Through collaborative, interdisciplinary teams of nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers and medical doctors, the hospital provides clinical, mental health, recovery, and forensic inpatient services.

Georgia Regional Hospital – Savannah (GRHS)

West Central Regional Hospital

The West Central Regional Hospital provides quality, person-centered, therapeutic care for adult mental health and forensic patients. Through collaborative, interdisciplinary teams of nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers and medical doctors, the hospital provides clinical, mental health, and forensic inpatient services.

Jail Restoration Center

The Jail Restoration Center provides quality, compassionate, individualized competency restoration services to forensic inmates deemed Incompetent to Stand Trial. A multi-disciplinary team of psychiatrists, social workers, and medical professionals collaborate with POST-Certified staff to provide care and clinical support in a safe and secure environment.

Regional Field Office

DBHDD’s six Regional Field Offices administer a system of community resources. Our field offices serve as the initial point of contact for programs within the area and fulfill additional community-based services not limited to oversight of statewide initiatives serving the behavioral health and intellectual and developmental-disability populations.
