Senior Employee Relations Specialist- Atlanta

Job Summary:
Reporting to the Employee Relations Manager, the Sr. Employee Relations Specialist supports the employee relations function for the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) by assisting in the planning, development, and implementation of new and revised employee relations programs, policies, practices, and procedures aligned with the strategies and culture of DBHDD.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities Include:
• Provides support in the administration of employee relations matters and related policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance
• Supports employee relations activities to include but not limited to: employee/management counseling and coaching, etc….
• Provides consultation, support, and training to all levels of management on employee relations policies, practices, procedures, and related decisions.
• Acts as a resource to ensure fair and consistent interpretation, implementation, communication and administration of related programs, policies, and initiatives.
• Provides guidance and counsel on performance management issues and disciplinary process.
• Assists in the development and documentation of procedures to enhance and streamline processes and ensure compliance with related regulatory requirements

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma/GED and three (3) years of job-related experience in human resources; or one (1) year of experience required at the lower level HR Spec 2 (HRP021) or position equivalent. Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year.

Preferred Qualifications Include:
• Related masters or law degree is preferred, with 5-6 years progressively responsible experience in employee relations or legal experience with an emphasis in employee relations.
• Experience in administering employee relations programs, policies, procedures, and best practices in a state government entity strongly preferred.
• PHR/SPHR or other relevant certification.
